PPK vs PPP: similar acronyms, different workflows

PPK uses a nearby reference

Post-processed kinematic positioning combines rover observations with base or CORS observations. For UAV mapping, it supports precise time-linked camera positions and a practical project workflow.

PPP uses precise global products

Precise point positioning can work without a nearby local base, using precise orbit and clock products. It is valuable in remote or global applications but has different convergence and operational characteristics.

For drone mapping

PPK is usually the more direct fit where suitable base data exists and camera-event timing is part of the workflow. PPP can be valuable where local reference data is unavailable, but it is not a drop-in replacement for every PPK mission.
