Professional UAV mapping involves more than pressing Process. The choices made after the flight can shape whether the positioning result is suitable for the job.
The position is part of the deliverable
An aerial image capture is more valuable when the camera positions are reliable. Recorded GNSS observations can be combined with suitable correction data after the mission to calculate improved positions. But a professional workflow involves more than producing coordinates.
Correction data matters
Depending on the project, suitable reference observations may come from a local base station or a supported CORS network. Availability, baseline length and observation quality all affect what processing can achieve.
The first result is not always final
Satellite geometry, gaps and correction conditions can complicate processing. KlauPPK offers multiple processing approaches, including forward and reverse passes, allowing the operator to investigate challenging datasets rather than blindly accepting the first result.
QA before photogrammetry
A completed process is not proof that every portion of the trajectory meets project requirements. Solution status and quality information should be reviewed before the coordinates are exported.
Coordinates need context
A client may require a published grid, a geoid-based height or a local site reference framework. A defensible workflow needs to connect the GNSS solution to the project's actual coordinate requirements.
From observation to mapping
Capture → process → review → transform → export → map.
Landing the drone is the beginning of this next stage, not the end of the accuracy workflow.
